Create a curling program or outing of your choosing (dependent on ice time and volunteer instructor availability).

What:

  • Program format is up to you and your group.
  • Rent the ice for one hour to learn the fundamentals.
  • Rent for two hours to add some game experience.
  • You can even start your own weekly league or curling camp.
Who:
Corporations, Organizations, Churches, Charities, Schools, Occupational Leagues, Clubs, or whoever wants to curl
When: (In General)
  • From April till September: evening and weekend ice time is generally available.
  • From October till March: only daytime and weekend evening ice time is typically available; other times (weekday evenings) may also be periodically available from week to week.
Where:
  • Pepsi Ice Midwest, Rink A. 12140 West 135th Street (at Quivira). Overland Park, KS 66221 (Map)
  • Special requests for alternative rinks will be considered.
Limits:
  • We can demonstrate the fundamentals for up to 40-50 individuals.
  • 32 people can play traditional curling matches at one time (4 per team; 2 teams per sheet; 4 sheets of ice; 4x2x4=32).
  • Optimally, we aim to have 1 volunteer Club Member for every 5-10 new curlers when demonstrating the fundamentals.
Cost:
  • $299 per hour is generally the ice rate our club pays to Pepsi Ice MidWest.
  • KC Curling Club Members are happy to volunteer their time to demonstrate the techniques of curling, but contributions to the Club on their behalf are greatly appreciated if you are able. Suggestion ($20-$40 per instructor)

My favorite bonspiel has been the Mankato, Minnesota, club's Men's Spiel in February. The people there are all so nice and friendly, and remembered me from the year before. The ice is fabulous and yearly membership dues are cheap. I like it so much that I am considering moving to the area so that I can curl on their dedicated ice .... We 'placed' both times and won top Minnesota sirloin steaks :) Yummy!!!
